Sharing has many faces

BORO is not the only way to share things. There are great projects out there with different approaches — from digital community apps to analogue sticker systems. And your local library might surprise you too.

Apps & Platforms (English)

These platforms are available in English and are a good starting point if you are outside of German-speaking regions.

Mooch

Lend, borrow & track with friends

Mooch is a free US-based app (iOS & Android) for lending and borrowing items within your trusted friend group. It features a private inventory, one-tap requests, built-in return reminders, and even a barcode scanner. Very similar in spirit to BORO — private, ad-free, and community-focused.

Tip

Libraries lend more than books

Many public libraries have expanded far beyond books and DVDs. Under the concept of a "Library of Things", you can today borrow tools, board games, musical instruments, digital devices, sewing machines, and much more — often for free or at very low cost.

Libraries of Things exist in cities across the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and beyond. Search for your nearest library and check what they lend — you may be surprised at the range available.

Tip: Search for "Library of Things" or "tool library" together with your city name to find nearby options.
